Mordecai House was once one of the largest plantations in Wake County, North Carolina. The original portion of the house was built about 1785 by Joel Lane for his son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Polly Hinton Lane. The Mordecai Historic Park features historic structures relocated from Raleigh and surrounding areas. Importantly, President Andrew Johnson’s birthplace is now located in Mordecai Park.
