First opened to the public in 1996, the Museum Visitor Center is today the focal point of the Stanly County Museum. Inside, a permanent exhibit featuring more than one hundred historic artifacts retraces Stanly County’s ten-thousand-year story. The Stanly County Historic Preservation Commission is open to visitors Tuesday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Admission is free. School groups and tours for groups of all ages are welcome. For more information call 704/ 986-3777.
