Pisgah National Forest and the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education
Both indoor and outdoor exhibits that focus on Mountain region wildlife can be found at the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education. The Center also offers educational programs for groups.

- NatureWorks Learn about animal adaptations, habitats and interdependence or go straight to the facts about North American animals and birds.
- Wild World Colorful maps with profiles and photos of more than 1,000 ecoregions. Wild World maps (which were sent to schools and can be ordered on the site) are made interactive on this website. You can enjoy biodiversity and see the urgency of conserving it. An educator's guide accompanies the maps and offers lesson plans and activities on subjects like map fundamentals, biodiversity, and ecoregions.
- EEK! Environmental Education for Kids An electronic magazine for kids in grades 4-8 and their teachers too that features constantly changing information, games, and activities about nature and the environment.
- Lesson plan: Bats The students will learn that bats are nocturnal and use echolocation.
- Lesson plan: Postcards from the edge: Endangered species Students learn about endangered species in the United States, some of the reasons they are endangered (e.g. habitat destruction or the introduction of invasive species), and what is being done to protect them. Students will choose one species to focus on and examine the reasons it is endangered, and why it is important to make an effort to save it.

The Pisgah National Forest features some of the most beautiful and rugged mountain scenery in eastern North America. It is a large forest that covers much of the north and central western mountains of NC. The area has waterfalls, wildlife, and historical areas.
The Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education is located in Pisgah Forest. Its programs and exhibits focus on the wildlife and habitats of North Carolina’s Mountain region. Group programs can be arranged for groups of 10 or more. These programs generally last 1 1/2 to 2 hours, and they are designed for specific age ranges. All programs are free, but require reservations. Call (828) 862-8721 or send email to lynn.veurink@ncwildlife.org to make a reservation.
