Built in 1730, the Newbold-White House is the oldest brick house in North Carolina. Period furnishings and household goods recapture the rugged charm of early eighteenth century life. The home, which is located off Hwy 17 in Hertford, is open for tours except during a period between Thanksgiving and February. Admission is charged. Call (252)426-7567 for more information.
A colonial period periauger, built at the Maritime Museum in Beaufort, took to the sea in June 2004 and made its way to Hertford and the Newbold-White House. For information, see the: Discover Perquimans website.
