Located in Aberdeen, the Malcolm Blue Farmhouse is over 170 years old and is one of the remaining examples of 19th Century Scottish Homes in the Sandhills. Malcolm Blue was a wealthy landowner who was very successful in the Naval Store industry. His son, Malcolm James, built a railroad and became the first postmaster of Blue’s Crossing. He also built the first house in what is now downtown Aberdeen.

During the Civil War, a wing of General Sherman’s army commanded by General Judson Kilpatrick camped at the Blue House. One of the last Cavalry engagements of the war was fought on Malcolm Blue’s brother’s farm land. The Union General Jordan commandeered the Blue Farm and Bethesda Church for officer’s use.

The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. To schedule a visit, call the Malcolm Blue Farm at 910-944-7558.
