  • Energy Quest An animated multimedia website takes kids on an energy journey through chapter stories, games, and energy library to learn about how things work, how to save energy, and even the latest on alternative fuel vehicles.
  • DOE's Fossil Energy-Related Education Material Information for kids about coal, oil, and natural gas. Find out how coal is formed, about coal mining and transportation, ways of producing oil, getting gas from the ground, and more. The Kids' Zone introduces cute characters that will help students learn more about energy basics through study guides, projects, and patterns. Also provides an energy glossary, quizzes and games, and teacher lesson plans.
  • The Atoms Family Contains educational activities relating to different forms of energy and are presented by famous horror characters.
  • Lesson plan: Energy Sources and Use Students will use Internet resources to investigate and compare alternative sources of energy.
  • Lesson plan: Just turn it off Students test the energy use of a flashlight to understand the uses and waste of electricity.
  • Lesson plan: Renewable energy sources In this lesson, students will use Internet resources to investigate renewable sources of energy. Located at McGuire Nuclear Station, Duke Power’s EnergyExplorium offers lots of fun and fascinating things to do for everyone interested in learning more about generating electricity. The EnergyExplorium offers hands-on exhibits, a one-mile long nature trail, wildlife habitats, picnic facilities, a 27-minute film on the history of Lake Norman and a self-guided tour through the facility.
