Built as a walnut log cabin in the early 1800s, this home once served as a stagecoach inn and the seat of the county government until the courthouse was constructed. The Carson House entertained famous Americans such as Davey Crockett, Sam Houston, and Andrew Jackson. This historic home and private, non-profit museum is currently filled with unusual household and plantation artifacts.

The Carson House is open from May through October, Tuesday through Saturday. All other times it is open by appointment. The home is located in Pleasant Gardens on US Highway 70, west of Marion.
