The Capital Area Visitor Center, located in the lobby of the North Carolina Museum of History, was established in 1976 as a welcome and information center for the North Carolina government complex in Raleigh, the capital city since 1792. It welcomes school groups, clubs and organizations, sightseers, and families and offers a variety of free services to the public.
