Located in the heart of downtown Smithfield, the Heritage Center is in the renovated former home office of First Citizens Bank. It was created in 1997 to preserves the history and material culture of Johnston County. It has interpretive exhibits, programs, and publications.
The Heritage Roadshow will come to schools to share to share items of historical interest, including old photographs, letters, diaries, journals, school yearbooks, and other primary source materials.
