The Center offers programs to school groups on plants and the environment. Topics include plant math and seed education and plant-insect interaction for elementary students. The Bullington Center has an amphitheater, a greenhouse, and a 2000-foot nature trail. Located on 33 Upper Red Oak Trail, the center’s public hours are 9 am to 12 noon Tuesday, and 12 noon to 4:30 pm Friday. School field trips are available other times, arranged by calling 698-6104. All school programs are free to Henderson County Public Schools. Other schools are welcome to participate, as space is available, with a $2/student fee.

The staff at the Bullington Center will visit your classroom to help make student gardens and will teach students K-4 about plants and plant growth requirements. The instruction is coordinated to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. To help you with your science instruction, the Bullington Center has weather instruments, compost bins, compost thermometers, and grow lights available for you to borrow and use at your school.
