General William Lee Airborne Museum
Located in his former home in Dunn, North Carolina, this museum highlights the life and accomplishments of General William Lee.
Known as the ‘Father of the Airborne,’ General William Lee was assigned by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to organize the development of Army airborne units. His efforts led to the establishment of the Airborne Command and earned him the Distinguished Service Medal.
The museum is located at 209 W Divine Street in Dunn. Exhibits include photographs, videotape, World War II memorabilia, historical documents and paratrooper equipment and uniforms. The museum is open Tuesday-Friday 10am-4pm, Saturday 11am-4pm, and Sunday 1-4pm. Call 910-892-1947 for more information.
