- Geography Action! Activities, lesson plans, and a showcase of natural sounds help students and teachers explore topics such as biodiversity, conservation, habitats, population, rivers, and U.S. public spaces in an effort to celebrate Geography Awareness Week all year long.
- Lesson plan: Soil and erosion unit: Section 2 This unit will involve descriptive information on North Carolina soil types and how the presence of plants affects soil erosion. This section should be begun only after completion of Soil and erosion unit: Section 1.
- Lesson plan: Soil and erosion unit: Section 1 This two week unit will involve descriptive information on North Carolina soil types and how the presence of plants affects soil erosion. Upon completion of Section 1, you may continue to Section 2.
- Lesson plan: Observing connections: Changing landscapes The students will learn about the changing environment through study and observation. They will reflect on these changes in the environment and create their own landscape and habitat. This is the second lesson in “Observing connections,” a series of three in which students are creating art based on their observations.
- North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission - Wildlife Species and Habitat Information A North Carolina Wildlife Resources site with detailed information about wildlife resources and management in the state. Information about animals such as the wood duck, white-tailed deer, beaver, wild turkey, quail, sea turtles, and predators such as various owls, osprey, black bear, wild boar and the gray fox is found here.

The Center provides hands-on learning programs to teach environmental education topics to students. These outdoor experiences include field ornithology, entomology, and aquatic studies.
