The Outer Banks History Center
Visit the Outer Banks History Center and view exhibits and attend programs which pertain to North Carolina and the Outer Banks area.
Located in Manteo, the holdings of the Outer Banks History Center include more than 100,000 manuscript items, 30,000 books and pamphlets, 30,000 photographs, 1500 periodical and serial runs, 5,500 maps and charts, and a great variety of paintings, drawings, prints, audio and video recordings, and ephemera. The center also has many historical, cultural, economic, governmental, and scientific topics pertaining to North Carolina and to neighboring states. The OBHC has an ongoing exhibit program as well as an oral history program about the Outer Banks.
The OBHC staff conducts historical, genealogical, and cultural programs. They are also available to address classes, and other groups on a variety of historical and cultural topics. Call the Center (252-473-2655) for more information.
