The Old Depot Association, a non-profit and volunteer organization, was started in 1976 to protect and maintain the 100 year old train depot and support the teaching of mountain and heritage crafts in the local Swannanoa Valley Schools. The Association funds community programs which meet these goals. The Old Depot Association includes a Caboose Museum. The museum display features a photographic history of The Depot, train memorabilia, and period music. The Gallery at the Old Depot displays the works of over 75 crafters.
