The Anson County Historical Society has preserved historical artifacts and buildings to create an enlightening learning experience that highlights the history of Anson County. Their main museums are the Boggan-Hammond House, the Alexander Little Wing, the Ashe-Covington Medical Museum, and the Leavitt House.
The 18th century Boggan Hammond House was built by Captain Patrick Boggan and is the first restored building in Anson County. Captain Boggan was the donor of the land for the town of Wadesborough (now Wadesboro). The house contains period furnishings.
The Alexander Little Wing is the 19th century portion of Boggan Hammond House and includes original furnishings.
The Ashe-Covington Medical Museum serves as a tribute for Anson’s doctors and nurses and houses many medical artifacts.
The Leavitt House is the oldest commercial building still in use in Anson Country and is home to the Tom Little Museum artifacts, the F.C. Allen Huntley Arrowhead collection, and the Wadesboro High School Museum.
