Created in 1946 at the direction of Major General James M. Gavin, 82nd Commander, the 82nd Airborne Division Museum exhibits were housed in a wooden building. In 1957 a new museum was built. Over the years, the museum has grown and now has a theater and a research facility.

Exhibits at the museum include donations of artifacts from soldiers who have served in the 82nd Airborne, vintage aircraft, large field artillery pieces, and other important 20th Century historical pieces.

The museum is located at Ardennes Street on Fort Bragg. Call (910) 432-3443/5307 to schedule a visit. Admission is free.
