Located in Boone, North Carolina, Hickory Ridge Homestead is part of the Southern Appalachian Historical Association, producers of the third oldest outdoor drama, the Horn in the West. Hickory Ridge Homestead has eight log buildings on its grounds which date from 1785 to the early 1930s. All the buildings, with the exception of the smokehouse, came from different locations in Watauga County. The smokehouse was built on-site using 18th century tools.

The Homestead is free to the general public. The grounds are open year round for self-guided tours. The buildings are open with costumed interpreters at specific times during the year. For more information about the programs offered by the Homestead, please call (828) 264-2120 and ask for the Education Coordinator.
