In the summer of 2008, LEARN NC will switch to the Moodle Learning Management System, replacing our Blackboard service. Moodle’s widespread use throughout North Carolina and open-source development made it a logical and cost-effective replacement. For more details on the conversion to Moodle, please click here.

In order to host your course with LEARN NC and use the LEARN NC Help Desk to support your classes, you need to have some prerequisite skills with Moodle and teaching online. Beginning in the summer of 2008, LEARN NC will offer online Moodle Training for course instructors and developers. This course is fully online and will show you how to use Moodle to teach one of our courses, or to develop one of your own. Please keep checking the Online Courses section of the website to see when Moodle Training becomes available.

Licensing

As a provision of our license, any courses that are created must be instructor-led (as opposed to tutorials), and made available for use statewide. This does not mean that you have to provide an instructor for the course, but that other systems may be able to download the course and provide an instructor. Once you have completed Moodle training you will have access to our courses and may teach them in your system.
