- Whom does LEARN NC serve?
- Our primary clients are the teachers in North Carolina’s public schools. But we also have resources for students as well as a growing collection for administrators. And because our resources are freely available on the Web, we are able to serve educators and students worldwide!
- Where does LEARN NC "live”?
- LEARN NC is a program of the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Education. We are housed physically in Peabody Hall on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus.
- How is LEARN NC funded?
- LEARN NC is funded by the state of North Carolina. We receive additional money from partnerships with other state agencies, such as the Department of Public Instruction, and through grants from various private foundations such as the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation and the Progress Energy Foundation.
- Who produces LEARN NC’s resources?
- LEARN NC’s education staff is made up of teachers, media specialists, and content-area experts. The vast majority of the content of our website is developed by or in partnership with North Carolina teachers and undergoes peer review and editing before publication. Additional resources are developed by our staff, the faculty of the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Education and of other universities, and our partner programs.
- Who are LEARN NC’s partners?
- LEARN NC works closely with LEAs and other agencies in North Carolina K–12 education, including the Department of Public Instruction, programs of the Center for School Leadership Development, NC ECHO, and the state’s public and private universities. We also work with national education resource providers such as Thinkfinity (previously MarcoPolo). For a full list of LEARN NC’s partners, please see our partners page.
- Do I need to register to use LEARN NC’s resources?
- No. All of the resources on the LEARN NC website are free and available to the public. Only our online professional development courses require registration for participation.
