Pre-activities

Review the procedures of using the internet as well as a review of what the class has learned so far about great horned owls. Have the site bookmarked on the computer so children can access the site much easier.

Activities

  1. Instruct the students step by step on procedures to access the owl website and use of the owl website.
  2. After all students have successfully found the web page, then begin the activity sheet entitled Yahooligans Owl Information.
  3. Together find the information for the first question on the worksheet.
  4. Continue monitoring students to ensure all are on the right track. Let the students continue answering questions on the worksheet independently as teacher continuously monitors student activities.

Additional Activities:
After the worksheet is completed and the students have further investigated the website on great horned owls allow sharing of interesting facts learned in groups. Use the excitement of the moment to encourage further independent investigation and sharing in the near future.
