K-12 Teaching and Learning From the UNC School of Education

LEARN NC was a program of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Education from 1997 – 2013. It provided lesson plans, professional development, and innovative web resources to support teachers, build community, and improve K-12 education in North Carolina. Learn NC is no longer supported by the School of Education – this is a historical archive of their website.

Although LEARN NC makes every effort to ensure the quality of its published lesson plans, the teacher is ultimately responsible for providing successful and appropriate instruction. Please be advised:

  1. Teachers should read lesson plans carefully and critically, with an eye to their own needs and the needs of their students. What works in one classroom may not work in another, and we encourage teachers to adapt and modify out lesson plans as they believe appropriate.
  2. Teachers should carefully review any resources linked from our website or recommended in lesson plans before presenting them to students. Please read or view any recommended books, films, articles, or other learning materials to confirm that they are appropriate to your classroom and students.
  3. LEARN NC is not responsible for the content of resources available on the web not published by us, that is, that do not have a URL beginning with www.learnnc.org. Although we review linked websites and resources before publishing a lesson plan, the content of external sites may change without notice. If you find something in a web resource linked from a lesson plan that is not appropriate for a K–12 audience, please let us know.
