Activities

  1. Discuss the cabin as Matt and his dad built and furnished it and the improvements that Matt made.
  2. Read and discuss the qualities of the featured house in the Sunday newspaper Real Estate section.
  3. List the qualities of Matt’s cabin that would make it desirable to a buyer in early America.
  4. Create drawings on paper of these qualities of the outside and inside of the cabin.
  5. Introduce Kid Pix Studio Deluxe and discover the many attributes of the program.
  6. Using Kid Pix features students draw, paint, stamp, etc. the picture of the outside of Matt’s cabin, use text to write a persuasive blurb to sell the outside of the cabin, and save.
  7. Using Kid Pix features, students create pictures of the inside of the cabin, use text to write a persuasive blurbs to sell the inside of the cabin, and save.
  8. Students use the saved pictures, music, and transitions to create a SlideShow designed to sell Matt’s cabin.
  9. Students share the SlideShow with others.

Assessment

  • A complete list of qualities of Matt’s cabin to reflect thorough reading
  • SlideShow pictures reflect the list of qualities
  • Selling blurbs must include elaborate and persuasive language
  • SlideShow must be a complete multimedia presentaion reflecting the use of many of the qualities of the Kid Pix program
