Melissa is a graduate student in the School of Information and Library Science at UNC-Chapel Hill. She has a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Before going back to school, she taught fourth grade in Clayton, NC for four years. Melissa has several hobbies, including running, quoting movies, cooking, and traveling, but her favorite way to relax is by reading a good book. Her favorite season is autumn.

In this lesson, students will continue to learn about changes that were made to accommodate the Blue Ridge Parkway. Specifically, they will learn about changes and decisions that helped create the natural scene of the environment surrounding the Parkway. At the end of this lesson, students will write a journal response justifying whether or not these were good changes and decisions to make.
