Chris Hitch serves as an Assistant Director for the Principals’ Executive Program at the University of North Carolina. He has consulted with over 1,200 school executives in North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia.

Chris has successfully served both as a school and business executive. He has served as a principal of three schools, two of which were Title I School-wide projects. He also served as a district math consultant,and HR/accountability director. As a business executive, Chris grew a $21 million line of business to $28 million in three years at a multinational technology training company, focusing on technology training in wireless, data/voice networking, and network security for over 30 programs in 52 locations throughout the US, Latin America and Canada.

Chris is a graduate of the Principals’ Executive Program (PEP 34) and earned his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1990. Chris received one of four national scholarships from AASA in 1988. In addition to his work at PEP, he also serves as an adjunct professor at Appalachian State University. Chris’ areas of specialization include blending business and education, data analysis to improve student achievement, technology integration, results-based school improvement, school executive leadership development, school financial analysis, and turnaround schools.

He and his wife of 21 years have two teenage children.
