Melinda Parks
Melinda finds herself at home with the upper elementary students and curriculum. After receiving her bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University, Melinda began her teaching career at Timber Drive Elementary in Wake County where she taught fourth grade for eight years. She earned her Master of Education degree from UNC in 2003 and her National Board Certification in 2004. Working with the NC Department of Public Instruction to produce social studies lessons, a pacing guide, and a “Kids in Action” civics guide for elementary teachers enabled Melinda to connect with teachers across the state. Now at home with her daughter, born in May 2005, Melinda looks forward to keeping her hands in upper elementary education while spending her days earning her toughest degree–the parenting degree!
