Barbara Williams began her teaching career as a Physical Education specialist for seven elementary schools in Rowan County. She then taught Health & Physical Education at Statesville Middle School (formerly Oakwood Junior High) for twelve years prior to the merger of the Statesville City and Iredell County school systems. She has taught Health/PE in grades 6 to 8 at North Iredell Middle School since the school first opened in the Fall of 1991 and until about 2001. She now teaches elementary physical education closer to home.

Winter Olympics: What a blast!
The following lesson plan outlines an integrated unit on the Winter Olympics from the perspective of Physical Education. All subject areas can participate (suggestions are listed below), but the culminating activity is the Olympic Games organized through Physical Education classes. This lesson plan could be adapted for any grade level by making the Olympic events age appropriate.
