Ann Dawson is a third and fourth grade math and language arts teacher at Ridgecrest School in Stanly County. She is a National Board Certified teacher and the 1996-1997 Stanly County Teacher of the Year. This lesson was created jointly with Greg Hathcock, a fifth and sixth grade teacher, to be used with their fourth and sixth grade “math pals.”

- Students will cooperatively discover the equivalent measures of capacity. In addition, students will be given a unit price of milk and will be asked to calculate the price of other units of capacity based on the price given. They will then use this information to determine the most economical buy.
