- Seasonal farm landscapes
- Students will have visited the farm landscape four times throughout the year, recording their observations during four seasons. The drawings will incorporate their knowledge of farms from our visits, their exposure to the seasonal landscapes of Grant Wood and Claude Monet, and their knowledge of landscape art and its elements of color and perspective developed at the Museum. The final project will be individual student books containing their landscape drawings and text.

- Seasonal farm landscapes (Part 1)
- The following lesson is the first of two lessons studying the seasons and farms through landscape drawing, painting, and writing. In the first activity the students will examine Grant Wood's lithographs and painting landscapes. Our observations of Wood's artwork will prepare us for our trip to a local landscape (farm) to sketch our own seasonal landscapes. We will visit and sketch the farm four times, once during each season.
