- At home in the tropical rainforest
- Students will choose one rainforest animal to research using print and electronic resources. They will work cooperatively with a partner to create a Hyperstudio card with the following information: photograph of the animal, the layer of the rainforest it inhabits, sound the animal makes, and an interesting fact about the animal.
- How Much is that Doggy in the Window?
- Using internet sources, students will explore information associated with owning a dog. Students will access a controlled collection of websites regarding owning a dog within the scavenger hunt.
- Nephelococcygia--Cloud Watching.
- As part of the 2nd grade science objectives dealing with weather, students will learn the various types of clouds as well as the term and the act of nephelococcygia -- cloud watching.
- Snails- Fact and Fiction
- This lesson on snails integrates Science, Language Arts, Technology and Math. Teacher will share a fictitious snail story with students. Students will complete a K-W-L chart on snails with the help of the internet. As a related activity, students will take a poll on snail preferences and graph it.

- How Many Ways?
- Students estimate the value of collections of pennies, nickels, and dimes. They then determine the exact amount by exchanging sets of pennies or nickels for dimes.
- Let's build a snowman
- Students read fiction and nonfiction books and access the Internet to gain information about how animals survive during the winter.
- Reading and writing about whales using fiction and nonfiction texts
- Students formulate research questions and write letters. After listening to and viewing nonfiction picture books about blue whales, students write letters to an online scientist.
