Bio Poem Introductions
Bio-Poems can be used at the beginning of school as an opening activity for the first week of school. They can also be used anytime throughout the year when introductions are necessary (e.g. change of semester class, new students, etc.). In this lesson students will use the writing process as well as computer word processing skills. This activity ensures success and builds self-esteem.

Coastal Weather Issues: Planning for a Hurricane
The unit is designed for seventh grade students who have been studying Earth and its atmosphere. In this sequence, students are faced with the realistic issue of personal and social decision-making when planning for hurricane strikes, which includes classification, tracking, and monitoring hurricanes, as well as planning for evacuations. The inquiry-based approach involves a WebQuest in which the learner will assume the role of an emergency management team member who must create a preparation plan for the community.

Interdisciplinary Integrated Unit on DNA/Genetics Part B: Math
This lesson is part of an interdisciplinary integrated unit on DNA and genetics. The idea is for students to complete a week's worth of activities in science, math, and language arts. This lesson is Part B: Math. Students will complete a math survey interviewing people on whether they believe humans should or should not be cloned. They will take the data they gather and create computer generated spreadsheets, charts/graphs. Using the charts/graphs, students will answer mathematical percent and ratio questions and write a final journal entry on the information they collected and discovered.

Interdisciplinary Integrated Unit on DNA/Genetics Part C: Language Arts
This lesson is part of an interdisciplinary integrated unit on DNA and genetics. The idea is that students will complete a week's worth of activities in science, math, and language arts related to this topic. This lesson is Part C: Language Arts. Students will apply information retrieval skills as they investigate controversial issues on human genetic cloning. Students then will develop a point-of-view essay stating their personal opinion on whether human cloning should or should not be allowed.

Master Artist Internet Research Project: Timeline
Students apply their knowledge of how to find specific information about a topic on the Internet using an outline created by the class prior to the lesson. Using this outline, the students will create a chronological timeline of the artist's life on MSPublisher.

Respect and Responsibility Character Traits - Cut and Paste Activity
Using 20 different quotations that are out of sequential order--each with a relationship to the respect and responsibility character traits--students are to cut and paste (MOVE) the text in ascending sequential order, save, and print.

Slide Show Review
You can use this lesson plan with any subject or grade. I use it in my math class as a review before a test. I group the students in groups of three and each group creates a five question slide show which reviews the chapter or unit we have just completed in class.

Traveling Through Africa
Students will plan a one-week, three country trip through Africa and create a travelogue of places they will visit. The students will create an electronic scrapbook of highlights of the trip (including cultural highlights, historical points of interest, geographic features, etc.)
