- Discovering elements online
- Students will work independently and in small groups to research assigned elements on the internet with sites given in advance. They will then contribute to a class database with their individual information. The database will then be made available for students to again work independently and in pairs to answer questions created from a class discussion to discover relationships about the elements.

- Master Artist Internet Research Project: Timeline
- Students apply their knowledge of how to find specific information about a topic on the Internet using an outline created by the class prior to the lesson. Using this outline, the students will create a chronological timeline of the artist's life on MSPublisher.

- Word Processing software is used to create and print documents. English as a second language middle school students (with an intermediate level of English proficiency) will be introduced to the advantages of word processing with emphasis on text formatting features in Microsoft Works. Both independent and group work is included in the activities.

This culture is a composite of the aspects of each of the immigrant populations that make up our population. An understanding of the strength and commitment of these immigrants, as well as a look at the prejudices endured by many, helps us to better understand who we are today.
