- The case of the disappearing pitcher plants
- This lesson addresses the cause and effect relationship between human interaction and a North Carolina endangered plant species. A role-playing scenario allows students to view the situation from a variety of positions and to collectively arrive at a solution to the problem.

- Discovering elements online
- Students will work independently and in small groups to research assigned elements on the internet with sites given in advance. They will then contribute to a class database with their individual information. The database will then be made available for students to again work independently and in pairs to answer questions created from a class discussion to discover relationships about the elements.

- Students will be paired with an e-pal they will hopefully meet during their 8th grade trip to the coast.

- Holocaust WebQuest
- In this webquest students assume the role of Ambassadors of Peace in the year 2041 (the centennial anniversary of the beginning of WWII). It is their job to help the people remember not only the historical events of the Holocaust, but also the basic moral issues of hatred and prejudice. This webquest will allow students of all levels of ability to produce a product on the topic of prejudice and hate.

- Master Artist Internet Research Project: Timeline
- Students apply their knowledge of how to find specific information about a topic on the Internet using an outline created by the class prior to the lesson. Using this outline, the students will create a chronological timeline of the artist's life on MSPublisher.

- Students will be able to assess the strengths and weaknessess of the Articles of Confederation as related to the United States and North Carolina. Students will be able to demonstrate an argument for or against ratification of the United States Constitution.

- Using Percent of Change to Measure NC Growth
- Students will work in small groups to use the Internet to gather data on the population growth for each of the 100 counties in NC from 1992 to 1995. From this data students will find the percent of increase/decrease for the counties they have been assigned. As a follow-up, the students will enter their data into a computer spreadsheet and from that spreadsheet, produce graphs of the information.

- The success of the U.S. as a world power, an advocate of individuals' rights, and a worldwide defender of freedom is due primarily to our uniquely rich and varied heritage. This culture is a composite of the aspects of each of the immigrant populations that make up our population. An understanding of the strength and commitment of these immigrants, as well as a look at the prejudices endured by many, helps us to better understand who we are today.
