Goal 4. Writing

The learner will communicate in appropriate written English in a variety of personal, social, and academic contexts.

Level: Advanced

Students will use expanded vocabulary effectively in social and academic settings with occasional errors and will rely much less on forms of non-verbal communication. Learning objectives focus on narration and retelling using details and adjectives, paraphrasing events in detail, speaking with correct intonation and modulation, identifying punctuation marks, applying syllabication rules, following two-step and three-step directions, and reading or interpreting own writing with few errors.

Objective AD 4.02

Produce independent writing that consists of several sentences that is understood when read, but may include inventive spelling.

Healthy foods = super kids
This lesson focuses on how the foods we eat affect our bodies in both beneficial and harmful ways. Students will learn that grains provide energy; vegetables are needed for healthy skin, hair and eyes; fruits help the body heal, milk builds strong bones and teeth; meat builds muscle and gives strength; and sweets, fats, and oils are high in calories and give few vitamins and minerals and do little to help our bodies grow.
