Goal 4. Writing

The learner will communicate in appropriate written English in a variety of personal, social, and academic contexts.

Level: Novice High

Students will begin to use simple words and phrases, while continuing to use forms of non-verbal communication to express ideas and demonstrate comprehension. They may use pictures, actions, and limited verbal responses to show their understanding. Learning objectives focus on familiar stories and retelling them with gestures and simple words, identifying parts of a book, learning the alphabet, distinguishing upper and lowercase letters, writing his or her own name, and following one-step and two-step directions.

Objective NH 4.03

Write first and last name independently.

Students will talk about choices that families make when purchasing groceries. Students will make a booklet of frequently purchased grocery items.
