- Students will listen to Bubbles Bubbles by Mercer Mayer and a bubble poem before exploring the joys of bubble blowing. Students will observe bubbles, discuss their observations and create illustrations and stories to share.

- Mixing colors with Little Blue and Little Yellow
- This is an integrated lesson based on a French book entitled Petit Bleu et Petit Jaune (Little Blue and Little Yellow) by Leo Lionni. Within the lesson, students will experiment with various colors to create new colors and eventually write their own version of this story.

- Persuasive pumpkins
- Using observation skills and comparative language, the children will express their own ideas to compare likenesses and differences of pumpkins. They will sort by their own rules and explain their reasoning. Using cooperative learning, they will listen to other children's discussions and come to some agreements.

- Polar bears: Keeping warm at the Arctic
- Students will learn about the polar bear's body coverings and how they help it to survive in the Arctic climate. The activities include a trip to the North Carolina Zoological park and a hands-on experiment to facilitate this goal, followed by reflection on and communication of what they have learned using a variety of media including art and literature.
