Fraction funnies
Students complete a fraction exercise in which they are given clues to find the answer to a joke, and then make up their own "Fraction Funny" sheet using their own jokes (riddles) and clues.

Fraction/Decimal War
This lesson plan introduces a game that will reinforce fractions and decimals. This activity is best played in groups of 3-4. You may choose to use as an activity when work is completed or as a center activity.

Fractional parts with pattern blocks
Through this lesson students will understand that fractions are part of a whole. Students will identify halves, thirds, fourths, fifths, sixths, eights of a whole. They will use terms numerator, denominator and write fractions from models of fractions. Also, they will use sheets of paper to fold for different size fractions and label each part to see proportion size from least to greatest or greatest to least.

Fruit Loops with fractions
This activity provides access to using visual and hands-on practice in solving problems with fractions. By using cereal, each individual student will be able to work individually and as a group in using different methods of working with fractions, and practice their skills in addition, multiplication, division and subtraction. A prior knowledge of the basic multiplication tables and common multiples will be very advantageous in working through this activity.

This is the third lesson in a three-part unit integrating math, writing and visual arts.
